I have the sony system, ccsb lariat. the truck is so quiet, I think the sony system sounds just fine, I just want some more bump. So I think I want to keep the stock sony speakers and amp and use the sony high level outputs to feed a sub. Has anyone done this without a sound collector/converter to see how it works. I am afraid the sony system just cuts the lower spectrum off where you feel the bass.
This is the equipment I am thinking about getting, I don't have a console and I don't want to give up underseat storage. I think these products will cost under $500 with shipping and what not.
You can do this, but you'll be dissatisfied with the output. When you turn up the volume the Sony DSP turns down the bass.
You'll need to either replace the entire Sony system, or do exactly what you listed above AND something to un-shenanigans the Sony DSP. Like a JL Fix-86 or TWK-88, there's a lot of factory integration DSPs you can use. PAC makes one as well.
