There is a self test for your air cond/heat system that will give you a trouble code. Eatc = electronic temperature control
I can't remember which buttons to press to make the system self test but it can be found using the internet or a search here on the forum. Also the definitions of any trouble codes you may retrieve are on the internet.
I will look for the self test procedure in my service manual tomorrow afternoon if I get a chance and will post them.
You could remove the fuses for the system to stop the fan from running so your battery stays up.
