Hey guys, I had another account but I couldn’t reset my password. I was driving my 2013 F250 6.7 at highway speeds when a message on the dash appeared that read “Reduced engine power” I quickly changed over to the emergency lane since the engine seemed to no longer have power. Truck stopped and shut off and when i tried to start it up one time it just cranked. The CEL was on already due to the problems w the DEF tank heater that i have tried many times to fix. From the cabin i got a strong diesel smell and sure enough when i stepped out there was diesel leaking from somewhere above the oil filter. I read one other post and have a guess that it might be the High Pressure pump. Any second opinions that back this up or say it’s something else? Any comment is appreciated, thanks
An educated guess would be your fuel injector return hose has ruptured, causing a fuel leak under pressure as you've described. This is all the more likely culprit source of your external fuel leak, since all other fuel lines and components are made of metal, making that rubber hose assembly your weakest link. If that is the source of your fuel leak, the part number from Ford for that part is BC3Z-9A564-B. If you Google Search that part number you will likely see several pictures of that part.

Is this a fairly common problem seen with the 6.7?

Not common enough to be cause for concern. But for the few complaints I have read (and one that I've personally experienced on a truck that I repaired), about fuel leaking under pressure as you've described, the cause of it has been the ruptured fuel injector return line as I've mentioned above.

Just checking back in, got a P0028 code and it reads Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low. Could i be in the clear for not having a failed high pressure fuel pump?
Have you pinpointed and repaired the source of your external fuel leak?
Haven’t had the chance to check it out, I’m guessing to try to pinpoint the leak i will have to be under while someone tries to crank the truck so fuel can flow through the leak
My truck goes into reduced engine power during regen but only when doing 60+mph. If I'm doing 50 and below then it'll run fine. A couple times the CEL came on with code P0234 turbo over boost. Any ideas what's going? Before i take it in and have a massive bill

My problem ended up being a loose fuel line connected to the injector, so I can’t really tell you what’s going on

I'm very interested was the fix to this. I am having the exact same thing happening, however i have a retro 17 kit installed and i was told that P0234 is supposed to be removed from the DTCs.

I took it to a friend of mine who is a mechanic and they said a fuel line connecting to the rail became undone so they had to reconnect it
