okay heres the deal, i got a c6 tranny with a short shaft that is about done, i got a c6 tranny with a long shaft that i bought. i know i need to cut down my drive shaft to do this, unless i wanted to disassembe the trannys and switch rear. so tell me how much is the differnce between long and short so i knows how much to cut out. and dont need to know all the techicnal stuff for cutting, i am pretty good with a hack saw and a arc welder.
really i having a friend do it that works at a shop but he never did a ford shaft so he dont know the length to take out. and yes it will be balanced afterwards.
If your trans uses a slip yoke, slide slip yoke all the way in & back it out 1". Measure from the center of the bearing cap on the slip yoke to the center of the cap on the rear end.
If your trans has a bolt on yoke, just measure from the center of the cap on the trans yoke to the center of cap on the rear end yoke.
Then measure the current center to center length of the shaft & subtract the measurment that you got off the truck.
Make sure that the truck weight is on the wheels.
