Vin Numbers

Anyone know how to read a VIN number? I'm about to buy an '03 6.0 S/C 4X4 on Friday and what to know what the BORN ON DATE is ??? Can you tell from the VIN?

No, you cant tell by the VIN. The last # of the VIN is the serial #, that gives you a rough idea of the time frame it was built, (early vs late) You can decode your vin here.

he could tell when it was born if somebody on here wanted to run it through OASIS's couldn't he?

Thanks for your help! There is ONE last F-250 S/C long bed 6.0 in my tri-state area with rear sensing and T/T mirrors and limited slip; I will let you know if she's born after 05/05/03 !!!

If it is, she's MINE!

Dang-it. The vehicle I was interested in had a motor born on date of February 25, 2003.

I don't think I'm going to drop $40K; I guess I'll wait for a leftover '04.
