Just wondering what the difference is. Autolite say's to use the 764's, and although I ordered them, pickproparts.com sent me the app64's instead. Guess they have to go back, it's a shame there in Cali and I'm in NJ..
Are those plugs for the Ranger in your signature? I thought that all 2000 3.0L Rangers are flex fuel vehicles ...if your Ranger is a FFV, then I don't think those are the right plugs. Read Here
Also, maybe this will shed some light on the Autolite plug #s:
Yes, they are for that engine. According to autolite's site, those are the right ones for the flex fuel. I checked against autobarn.com and possibly pickproparts (if they had a search feature for vehicles) and that number came up also.
I think the APP103's are the more common numbers I've seen around for the 3 and 4.0's, but autolite say's those are for the non flex fuel. Vin code (u)
I was just curious incase they came back and said those were the right ones or compatible.. I've had that happen before. They emailed me back in 2 hours, appologized and said they'd be emailing me a sticker to send the box back via ups. They also just called to make sure I wanted the right set of plugs, or a full refund. Told them I just wanted the plugs and the rep said they were being sent out tommorow.
They handled it great though, I'm very happy.. although I won't be able to change the plugs this coming weekend either.
No luck whatsoever, and my town is pretty populated. R&S Strauss tried to sell me the wrong plugs and looked at me weird when I said I only wanted the double plat's (which they didn't have) Walmart is a total joke, I need to stop going there. Pepboy's in the neighboring town didn't have them and the local Napa store is awol. There's a lot more little stores to go to but driving in this town is a total joke. There's a stop light every 1/8 mile it seems like.
It did take awhile to find a site that had the right plugs in stock. Tried motorcraft also, but no luck. I found it amazing how many auto part stores on the internet have the worst navigation possible. I just gave up on a lot before ever seeing if they had the part. Yeah, I could've had a store like pep boy's order them for me, but that meant a seperate trip back, then having the fools find them.
Sorry, forgot to mention the price. It was 4 and some change for each plug. One sight that I did find the plugs on had the APP764's listed for over 7 bucks each. Wish I remembered the name of it. 4 bucks seemed like a bargain after that, and I think I remember seeing that price listed for similar plugs someone was talking about on this site
Whoever thought sparkplugs could be so elusive.. it's the only part to date that I've had trouble finding lol
