If you own a 3.0L FFV, are you aware that Ford no longer carries
the correct plug for your truck???? The correct plug is AGSF12PP,
and they will try and sell you a AGSF22PP. The AGSF22PP is the
plug for the 4.0L, and is TOO HOT for the 3.0L FFV. This is a ploy
by the "bean counters" at Ford to reduce inventory cost. I have tried
the AGSF22PP plugs, and my MPG dropped, and I had a rough idle.
Luckily I was able to find a set of AGSF12PP plugs, my idle is
smooth again, and my MPG is back up!!!
Please call 1-800-258-3673 and complain about what Ford has done, and
request Ford to start production again on the AGSF12PP plugs!!!

Not to mention that Ford wanted $223.00 to change the plugs and wires on my 4.0! They wanted $7.00 each for the plugs.
NO THANKS.
So I bought Bosch Platinum 2 plugs for half the price at the store, and did the tune up myself for $75 (including a new fuel filter). Now my fuel mileage is up just a tad, and the truck runs much smoother and quieter too.
The moral: Motorcraft parts, and esp. from the dealer, is not always the way to go.

You can get Motorcraft double platinums for your 4.0L at
Autozone for $3.99. With the Bosch plugs, only the center
electrode is platinum, so only the plugs in one bank will last.
With Ford's EDIS, the plugs in one back get the negative portion
of the spark, so the GND electrode will erode. It was my experience, and I have heard others also, say the Bosch plugs
run TOO HOT!!!

Bob... I haven't tried the oil pressure sending unit just yet. I haven't had enough time to crawl under the truck and locate where my sending unit is. Also, I'm still trying to decide whether or not I want to take on the project, because there is more envolved than I thought. But if I do it I will let you know the result. I do appreciate your help...it was all very good info.
And, you say the Bosch plugs are TOO HOT for my 4.0L. If this was the case, wouldn't I see a drop in fuel mileage? I haven't checked it yet...still on the first tank since the tune-up, but I think I'm doing the same or a tad better on fuel so far.

Beware of interchanging spark plugs from one brand to the other. They will list in some catalogs that plug"x" replaces plug"b" but look in plug "b"'s book and plug "a" replaces something else. Stick with the Motorcraft and you'll be fine. One heat range usually will not make that much difference.
