Looking at ordering soon, pulling our 5th wheel. Is the factory center high mount stop light mount camera ( CHMSL ) usefull for hooking up to 5th wheel? Also - can it be added after the purchase? thanks
Yes it is good and designed for 5er hookup, Don't know if it can be added after the fact, it would probably end up cheaper to add it at order, and less hassle. Not sure if it is a stand alone or has to be ordered with the camera package.
Yes it is helpful. It is a stand alone option, but not much more to get the 360 camera system that includes the chmsl camera which I would recommend if budget allows.
Yes you can add after market. That option is on my wish list. I will be going to https://camera-source.com/automotive...ry-camera.html
$329. price is almost the same as adding from dealer. My truck had everything I wanted except the chmsl option.
Is it useful? You bet it is. No more blind hook ups for me. The centering line on the screen is really accurate. I may have to get out to adjust the height of the pin box but I no longer have line up issues with the camera. Highly recommend it.
If your interested in the Ford trailer TPMS/camera system for 5th wheel you will need to order the CHMSL or the 360' camera system. Either of these camera options are necessary in order to have the required harness for the TPMS system to connect to.

I want to bring this question ^^ back to the top.....Has anyone installed this camera, or figured out how to install the factory CHMSL camera? I would likr to put one on the 2019 F350 lariat I just acquired.
Thanks, Jim
