New Connection betjene transmission and rear Axle

How Will i find the length of the Connection axle (what du you call the axle) between transmission and rear axle. My question is when i stick the yoke all the way in to the transmission how long du i have to pull yoke out i have been told 25 mm, before i can measure the length. What is your opinion

Here is a link to a diagram that shows how to measure for a driveshaft.

Mike thanks for the info. Are all output shafts the same length as in the shiny part ? Your dealing with a novice here.

Slip yoke clearance should be 3/4" to 1" to accommodate suspension travel.
This site or any driveshaft shop should be able to help you with the proper length driveshaft-

Art, There are several different yokes for most transmissions. Not only do they have different lengths they also have different U-Joint sizes (some even have different splines on the inside).

You may want to find a shop that specializes in making driveshafts. I think that Shaftmasters is a national chain. They will tell you what measurements they need. Also if you have a combination other than OE you might need to tell them the date code off the tag on your rear axle and the serial number off your transmission.

I just purchased and installed a new driveshaft from denny’s Driveshaft and I highly recommend them. Use their printouts online to measure the distance between transmission and rear end and send them in. It takes about 3-4 weeks but it’s worth the wait. It took longer to unbox it than it did to install.

If if you get in their waiting list and pay the $100 deposit you will get $10 off your order.
