Eh, maybe if you are a millennial and you are into that whole "leveling kit, gotta be slammed or lifted" thing. Back in the 70s/80s, these trucks were designed to do exactly what they were intended to do: WORK.
No 20 inch black "rimz", no "Bagz", no drop shackles or spindles, or Z'd frames, just an extra "3-"4 imches of extra rear height so that your trucks suspension geometry would be correct when loaded while remaining aesthetically pleasing.

All just fads, especially the 20" and bigger bling wheels. Not into fads, stock is timeless.
Lifting a 4x4 just makes them higher to climb into. The axles are still the closest thing to the ground and what is going to hit a rock or a stump. It seems most guys are lifting 4x4s for looks/ bigger tires though and don't really get them off the road much anyway. Pavement pounders is what we call them. I'm a little guilty of that too. My 59 F250 4x4 is just kind of an around town truck and I just ordered some Cepek 255x85x16 to replace the wimpy looking 235 street tires. No lift though, it's tall enough already.

Being a taller guy I prefer mild lift, really no more than 4" with 35x12.50s, But also where I live, and on my property, the truck gets used a good bit offroad. From clearing trees, hauling, etc... so the added height from tires is beneficial for me. I'm also into off-roading, but not so much in my truck, that's what my built CJ7 is for.
To each their own, but lifting for looks to me has always been pointless, hence why mine are purpose built.
