Stock Wheels are made of what?

Second question. I have a local wheel shop claiming that they powder coat aluminum wheels all the time safely. They said the only thing you cant do with aluminum wheels in put them in a blast oven to bake off old powder coat. True? Safe to powder coat?
Also, the 20 inch wheels... are they chrome or just polished? Thx

In '06 I had a set of Ford 20" wheels I bought re-clear powder coated.
The issue was that where the lug nut/grip washers hit the wheel was flat and not recessed. The clear got compromised and a pocket that soon filled up with water and brake dust formed in a couple wheels. The wheel shop that did the work said no warranty for failures stemming from lug nuts.
I later found out that the proper way to do it is to tape off the area where lugs touch wheels. The current wheels all have recesses where the powder/no powder transition can be made.
I believe the current wheels are PVD coated, which is a 'chrome' powder coat- like process rather than polished and clear powder. Clear powder over polished has no texture to stick to...
There is another thread where someone else asked the question and guys that are way smarter than me said that if the heat stays below____ for ____ amount of time the stock wheels are fine.
