No, it takes special equipment but nothing like the tanks used for chrome plating. Also they can use this process on most anything including plastic.

Around Tulsa is a shop that the guys that now have the Auburn, Cord , Duesenburg (sp) parts use it . Just google the three cars ,they have the shop in Broken Arrow if I look around I might be able to find his card. If you are ever in the area you should get ahold of him and take a tour of the place he loves to show the stuff.

Spray chrome finish

While looking for a chrome shop in Wichita, Kansas- I found a "spray chrome" shop and his stuff looked really good but he said there is no warranty of front end items like bumpers because the finish is relatively fragile i.e. rocks and bugs.

What brand? Not all are the same. CosmiChrome uses a plasma/flame process first before coating. Then final is a cross-linked polymer clear coat that has to cure in the dark for 7 days. Otherwise you end up with an inadequate bond.

This CosmiChrome does sound quite different from the spray chrome demonstrated on Jay Leno's Garage and other places.
