Frame durablilty
Does anyone know the frame strength of an early 80’s F350? I was looking at one over the weekend and it has the rails bent above the rear axle. This truck had a small dump body on it and I believe it was rated to 12,000 lbs GVW. Is this a typical problem? The rails were 1/4 inch material.

Since it had a dump body on it, I would bet money that it was grossly overloaded to the point that there was no suspension travel.
So no, that's not typical. Ford trucks are strong, but everything has a limit.
