It's getting hard to keep up here any more. Lets see if I can keep them straight now.
monkei...sounds like you have a fuel problem of sorts. Too much I think. Could be TPS setting too high, throttle plate opened up, or maybe too much press. In that order?
dhag911.....I think I'd look at the ignition switch on that one.
Timsmi....last but not left out...Get some carb cleaner and the next time it acts up, spray some in the intake and see if it will start. Get something that you know will burn (some of them won't) Have I said this before,? It sounds familiar. If nothing else this may narrow down what kind of issue to look at ( spark or fuel)
i think one of the first things i do will be to buy a new TPS and replace that. After that ill change my plugs. Then Ill try changing the coil. If nothing works im gonna try dewiring the msd box. and if it still does the same ***** ill probably just shoot myself in the head. i would also like to try seing if i have an intake manifold leak. either way cant do much of anything till i get the cast off my arm and have some money to spend.
there is a sensor on the engine that relates to the cooling system and will shut down the engine if it is faulty. for the life on me I can not remember its name. it communicates with the PCM and sends a single based on different temps of the engine. I had this go bad on my 86 f 150 with a 302 and it was an off and on thing I would start the truck drive and then turn it off it would not start.. i would have to wait for the engine to cool off. used to **** me off ending up replacing a whole lot parts that where not needing replacement.
I am having the same Problem on a 87 F-150 300 6 cyl. efi
Runs great when it is cold, but when it warms up it seems to want to die at low rpms, to keep it running we have to pump the gas like crazy. Sounds like a Vapor lock. we had it at 2 different shops and replaced some parts but would like to know more on how to fix it?
