Heater not working right

I have a 1999 Ford expedition xlt 4x4 with the 5.4 triton. I just finished changing my heater core, put everything back together and now my heater only works on high and won't change off defrost. Did I hook something up wrong? Not hook something up? Possibly blow a fuse? I accidentally arced a bare wire from the radio harness from my radio being stolen. Could that possibly have something to do with it? Any advice is appreciated.

Air flow out of defrost only means there is a vacuum leak. Not sure about the running on high only, I’d guess maybe you fried the speed control switch.

The "running on HIGH only" means that the blower speed resistor (assuming a manual climate control) is not in the circuit, either due to a failed resistor or a missed connection.

The "defrost only" is due to a loss of vacuum to the HVAC control head as already noted.

Both symptoms are in the FAQs linked to in my signature below.
