Sending unit differences

I recently bought a 38 gallon diesel fuel tank out of a 2001superduty. It was a Craigslist deal that was supposed to come with a sending unit, but when I got there it was missing. I ended up buying the tank anyway. I’m planning on putting the SD tank in my 86 F250. I have a 2001 ecsb 7.3 superduty parts truck. I was wondering if the sending unit out of it would work in the 38 gallon tank? I know the two tanks are different in that the ecsb one is smaller, but it would be nice to be able to use the sending unit out of it so I don’t have to buy one.

Yes. They're the same sending unit. You're good to go!

I have tanks off both an 84 and 85 f150. As you say the sending unit holes are different. The rest of the tank should be the same, I have the 84 tank in my 85 right now.
