Sending unit question

I'm in the process of replacing both of my fuel tanks, I picked up a new front tank from autozone today and was going to buy a new sending unit but they didn't have one that matched the unit I pulled out of the old tank. I went to autozone, O'reillys and napa, nobody had one like mine so while at napa I did a little hunting online and the only match I found said it was for a 64-68 mustang. Does my truck have the incorrect sending unit or have you guys had this problem? This is the one that was in my truck

I'm going too follow this post I've been looking for the same unit. I resorted to a uses that I found at pick n pull. Seems like the the company that makes the gas tank would have a sending unit.

Here's the unit I found when searching for a 65 mustang, appears to be the same. I'll update when I get mine tomorrow.

If I'm not mistaken I looked at that unit. The pickup line was 5/16. I need 3/8. And the tabs to keep it orientated in the tank were off. I hope I'm wrong.

There are 2 separate part numbers for that year, one with 5/16 and one with 3/8. As far as the tabs go I guess I'll find out when my new one gets here 😕

Thank you, I always forget about bronco graveyard. That would have saved me a lot of time and headache yesterday.

I find JBG and Dennis Carpenter and even LMC are helpful......... Even if just to get the right part number. Hope this one works.

No F100/350 used the same fuel tank sending unit as a Mustang.

1965/68 Mustang & 1967/68 Cougar: C8ZZ-9275-C .. Fuel Tank Sending Unit.

D7TZ-9275-B (replaced D0TZ-9275-D) .. Mid-Ship Fuel Tank Sending Unit / Marked: D0TF-9275-B or D7TF-9275-BA / Obsolete

1970/72 F100/350 with optional 25 gallon auxiliary tank / 1973/79 F100/250 2WD & F350 Regular Cab / 1978/79 F250/350 Crew Cab.

Just get a float and use the one ya got!

Just kidding of course...however, most of the aftermarket stuff (selector valves and senders) seem to be 5/16
