I have a 1976 F-250 Super Cab, I need to replace the sending unit on my side mount fuel tank. The number on the sending unit is: D7TF9275CA which is obsolete I guess. Can anyone cross reference this number for me.
Thanks
Steve
I replaced my midship tank, sending unit, fill hoses, and straps all from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard. I was pleased with the quality, and the pricing was very competitive. This all went into my 77 F150.
Just an FYI, if in need and looking for a replacement parts. Its very refreshing to know now that I have a fresh, CLEAN fuel system!!

Thanks for the reply. My tank and straps are in good shape. The reostat windings on the sending unit are wore in to. Hopefully I can just find a sending unit that will work.
Maybe Number Dummy will read this thread and give me some info.
Thanks again
Steve
Fuel tanks into the 80's look the same. Found a 86 parts rig that I'm going to try using the sending unit from on my 79. Unless someone chimes in with a "don't bother".
I don't understand what the difference would be. This is from the LMC site.
SENDING UNIT-STEEL SIDE TANK $49.95 Each
**Fits 1968-79 F-Series Regular Cab 2wd models and F250 Crew Cab 4wd models only. Sending unit for 1974-79 F-Series Super Cab and 1973-79 F250 Crew Cab 2wd models is not available.
Any Ideas?
Be careful on the aftermarket ones. I got a Spectra Premuim one for mine. I was impressed with their gas tanks, which were made in Canada, but the sending unit was made in China. The fuel tube was a different size and the gauge now reads E when I have a half tank. My original one was like yours, the windings were broke. (open)
Have y'all seen a sending unit made by anyone other than that Spectra brand? I'm searching for one and don't want a dud.... I've learned that sometimes the parts house parts aren't gonna last any longer than a junk yard special and I don't want to have to do this more than once...
Also, how's the clearance putting it in? My manual doesn't mention dropping the tank but I'm curious how much room there really is.....
More than likely, you'll have to drop the tank, as it's only an inch or two from the bed floor.
I'm not sure of any other reputable brands, maybe someone will chime in here with their experiences with a decent one.
I'm "thinking" of rewinding my old original one. I'll have to do some experimenting to get the correct Ohm's to work with the gauge.
Rewinding is definitely out of my realm of doing that's for sure. I was considering having a shop put the gauge in this weekend when I take it in for a frustrating power steering pressure hose leak that I can't get to stop but then I got to thinking and it's something I can do and save myself paying for that labor too. It'll be a few weeks from now as the next 2 we're gonna be running around like crazy. I'm also thinking about replacing the gauge itself if I can find a replacement one for a reasonable price. That's something I should be able to do w/o a problem too....
If I don't find another brand to buy I guess I'll end up with el cheapo.... *shrug*

If you are talking about the rear tank, you will have to drop it. On my 76 I can remove the sending unit on the side tank without dropping the tank.

If your going to that trouble (rewind that is). Get another sending unit out of another Ford truck and use the internals on your sending unit. Would be easier than rewinding the coil.
