Red face Front tank sending unit and other issues@#!%$%^^

Ok I may have gone and done it now. I have removed the bed and the front sending unit. In trying to get the electrical connections off I have butched them. So I now cannot connect them to the new sending unit. I have tried both Carquest and NAPA in my area and neither has any parts or availability. Ford wants 375.00 for the sending unit. Does anyone have a part number for the sending unit (front tank) for a 1997 F250 7.3 PSD crew cab with a metal tank 19 gals I think? And the electrical connection also?

Or can you tell me what years and models will interchange with this unit?

Welcome and I have no idea, sorry. Hate those connections. This will give you a bump.

Question

OK another question. Can I cut the wires going to the sending unit and attach them with bolts? providing I use a gasket material and o-ring to prevent leaking?

I am refering to the plastic piece that has 4 wires coming to it and it is through the top of the unit. The sending unit has one wire hooked to this. It was attached with a wire plug. The other three wires are not hooked to anything. This piece was attached with a plastic holder and one brass ring. I screwed it up taking it out and am not sure I can replace it. The brass stems were flared out.

What exactly are you needing? Having never looked closely at the tanks I'm not picturing what you are trying to describe. I still have the tanks and wiring harness from Whitey so I might be able to get you what you need.

I have found another unit at a salvage yard and should be here by the weekend. I am hoping it will still have the connector hooked so all I have to do is splice the wires and go. If not I am going to find some brass bolts and try to attach that way. At this point I have nothing to lose. Chase did you recieve my picture?
