My SUV doesn’t have SYNC but I have a radio out of anther Escape that does have it. Is it just a matter of installing it or does anything have to be programmed. Thanks.
I dont have a definitive answer for you, but i believe its more than just the radio. Sync vehicles have buttons on the steering wheel for the sync, at least my 08 focus does.
I'm not 100% sure on that though, but again i suspect it's more than just s radio swap. .
I'm going to shoot from the hip here as well, but I think you need the satellite antenna too depending on the version/options of the radio. Some SYNC radios offer turn by turn directions and I believe that requires the satellite connection.
If you take everything connected to the radio, logic says you have your bases covered.
Yes thanks I have the sat antenna already. I’m stripping the truck anyway. I’ll have all the parts. Weather I want to put them all in is another story.
I was just recalling an issue I had when I got our current Escape -
The previous owner had not de-registered and I had to call SYNC from the vehicle so they could get things straightened out. One of the things they required was the VIN. You may want to make sure you have the donor VIN available when you install it.
Yes, you WILL need the VIN of the old Escape--The Sync module is located (2008-2012 Escape) inside the center console, next to your right foot (it is called the APIM ). Here is a kit that Ford sells to add Sync to 2009 Escapes (just for visual reference) Ford Sync Kit Get the APIM and harness, there are microphones in the top of the rear-view mirror, (you could add your own) and the USB and Aux audio ports in the middle of the dash. If you have the radio and Sync from the same Escape, you should not need programming (I think)
