A lot of guys select the Motorcraft version despite having the inside plug because the design of the plug has been updated and no longer requires the 50 cent mod or adapter now available. You still have to buy the wiring harness separately, but you get OEM standards with the price.
Think Ford OEM has the better overall product, Riffraff has them. It is actually an upgrade for us in the 94.5 - 97 forum. I know Dorman uses the standard smaller pins throughout the 9 pin. Can't tell on Sisister as the pictures are not that good.
The outer two pins (glow plugs) are larger in surface area on Ford OEM helping on current draw and reduce melting of the connectors in that area which is why we usually replace them.
The OEM design from International/ Ford is much better than Dorman or Sinister (read both as Chinese junk). The Dorman use aluminum on the wires rather than copper like OEM and undersized at that. The Ford is much more robust in manufacturing as design. It isn't worth having a problem down the road just to save a little up front IMO.
AL wires??????? Whoaaaa, just when you thought Dorman might have a product that was good. That 'robust' part doesn't surprise me at all and it's not like adding a little robustness would cost much.
Swamps Diesel quite by accident tested harnesses from Dorman. Customers would complain that their new injectors were bad out of the box even after a few thousand miles. A few of them were able to drive into their shop and more often than not, they started by replacing the customer's Dorman UVCH with a Ford Motorcraft UVCH and that fixed whatever injector issues they were having.
I've found this to be true on several customer vehicles including a 2002 F350 I worked on. I used the one-piece Dorman UVCH and the truck ran ok, but didn't sound happy. When I pulled the harness off and put on a Motorcraft UVCH it ran night and day better.
In addition to the aforementioned, I'll never recommend anything Sinister. Most of the designs they sell are either copies and cheap knock offs.
