Clunk in reverse
Inspect the universals with a flashlight. Mine failed inside the yoke part, so really hard to see.
Both ends of the driveshaft and look for any leakage or movement where the driveshaft enters the rear differential. That outer bearing and seal are in the $10-$15 range and about a half hour to replace. Super simple with the writeups on here.
Also take note of your FRONT driveshaft noises (if 4wd). You could have a hub sticking and hear the front driveshaft, or the hubs sort of locking/unlocking.
FYI, I replaced both rear driveshaft universals, one of them twice within about a year. Driving down the road, especially after driving a bit, down hill I could get off the throttle and then on the throttle for the engine to pull a bit and make it happen most of the time.
Original Spicers and now no issues with it. Hope you find it!
