2010 6.4 issue, need help!!

Me and my girfriend were coming back from dinner the other night when we stopped at a red light where a cummins was sitting, we attempted to race... I spooled up and hammered down at the light change and BAM!! Huge cloud of white smoke and the truck started making a tap noise and running rough, I pulled over and shut the truck off and noticed oil dripping from my oil pan gasket. I started the truck back up and limped it home,( less than a mile away), still blowing white smoke like crazy. The truck still starts but runs rough and after a minute of rrunning, the hard tap noise joins in again. Any suggestions??

Any coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant?

I'm moving this one to the 6.4L forum, you should get a better response down there. Welcome to FTE by the way...

Just out of curiosity, was the truck tuned? Sounds to me like you've got a very expensive problem.

If this person ever returns....

- was the truck tuned?
- white smoke is either a re-generation or water in the combustion chamber
- hard tap noise could be a lifter, or a bent push rod, or a failed rocker, or a caved in piston, or possibly a bearing
- how much oil was dripping?

truck is not tuned, I'm pulling a cylinder 8 misfire code, and alot of oil is dripping as long as the truck is running it builds back pressure and pushed the oil through the gasket of the oil pan

Don't believe you'll find a code for blown head gasket or a hole in a piston.

You might want to pull the glow plugs and do a compression test on all cylinders. Also, if you remove the oil filler cap while the motor is running you’ll probably feel the flutter of presure - which is either a hole or crack in a piston.

Probably Time to start researching a new/used/refurbished motor and turbos. Also, new DPF.

Good luck.
