I CANNOT find anything on 2001 7.3 f250 gem removal except on expeditions and 150’s... what is the easiest way to remove it,open it up to see if it’s corroded and reinstall it??? HELP!
Ya but I’ve seen only pictures of bringing it up through that headlight switch hole since the gem is right below it . Other way is drop it straight down
Striker... Remove/unplug everything so that you can get the bezel(dash ring) out. Then, remove the 4 8mm bolts holding the cluster. Lift it out and unplug the 3 connectors. From there, you can have dinner on that damn module
that could be bad transfer case motor, bad front locking hubs, or a vacuum leak if it is ESOF. those are the three primary reasons for no 4X4 with ESOF
The motor works cause I have it wired to a toggle switch and that’s how I use four wheel drive but the lights don’t come on on the dash when it’s in.. I did a manual hub swap
On my 2000 the GEM was behind the main fuse box in the cab, you have to remove the fuse box and the GEM is on the back. Biggest head ache getting main fuse box out is unscrewing the bolts holding the cable connectors to the box, then fishing the box out into the drivers footwell from the pedals etc.
