One risks is completely nuking a power supply and going from 45 to 35 almost instantly. Then the immediate concern is major power loss, followed long term by damage to the injector coils.
My dad tried to stretch a questionable FICM running about 45V and 110A alt last summer..... both of them bit the dust about 800 miles from home. Ed FICM + Atlas 40 + LN230 + cables, he's much happier. Admittedly I had just used his truck for a 2,000 mile trip a month before and it was mostly fine, so there's no telling WHEN the last blow will fall.
