While driving down the road at any given time, while a/c running on any level, the a/c power will completely shut off for 5-10 seconds & then cut right back on almost like a long hiccup. Keep in mind this is the power shutting off, not the compressor clicking on and off, so it's as though the car is not running at all. This only happens every few weeks, but if anyone has hear of it or knows what this is i would like to get ahead of it. This is for a 2007 Ford Expedition. Thanks for your help.
I would suspect some sort of electrical open is occurring. Either through a bad relay contactor that opens for some reason then close back due to the energizing wires losing power, or you literally have an electrical connection that gives power to the A/C system to run that is breaking contact causing the outage.
This would be the same as manually turning off the A/C system. So I would check all wires and electrical connections that feed power to the A/C system first.
Then go from there.
I am not a mechanic, but I am an electrical engineer. And this sounds like the fault is making and breaking the power to the A/C system.
I am only guessing at this point.
