Well,I went to get the Allient pump, get there and Steve took care of me. Gave me the FTE discount. I opened the box and guess what...... plastic impeller. I was not a happy camper. Steve went to the Allient site and it only come on the 100mm pump. So threw it in the truck and it's going on.
Don't use cardboard. From places like HD, Lowes, or an actual sign store get a piece of the corrugated plastic sign material. Under $5 and won't get all funky when wet, you can hang it from the support.
If it is warm enough for anything to get wet, blocking airflow seems unnecessary and likely a bad idea.
Beyond -10F in conditions where the wind is unrelenting, such as feeding cattle with a bale bed, it is sometimes worthwhile.
Otherwise, if it is not reaching operating temp there is either something wrong with the truck or with the choice of vehicle for the task at hand.
6.0s seem to be most trouble-free when worked hard.

Reason: typo
I found it worthwhile to do it anytime the temps were 20°F or below to improve mpg. Running 188°F or so definitively showed a decrease, more so then the summer/winter fuel changes.
Ok, that task is done. Found nada in the lower hose to break the impellar and I didn't think a waterpump job needed pictures until after the fact that some less experienced people might have needed it. Sorry to those who might.(I'm sure another will come along and I'll do it then, promise)Now onto the cam/crank sensor codes and injector issue.....I hate getting old, I'm sure the Ex does too.

You might want to check your wire harness behind the alternator and in front of the turbo for chafing. I just started having surging RPM issues two days ago and yesterday found chafed wires and my TorquePro was showing DTC codes just like you described.
Thanks for the heads up, but I think I found the problem. When I got the Ex it was in pieces in the back. A brand new injector harness went in. That doesn't mean it hasn't gone bad.I know it has a injector issue. Number 4 and 6 are getting replaced under warranty along with HHC fuel rail seals. I'll get to it,just don't know when.
