hey guys,
i broke down last week with the truck shutting off and no re-start.
after towed home, I put in a new CPS, but no start .. did a&e Test and had several injectors high circuit and idm failure. I changed idm with an old one I had of unknown condition. Truck restarted, but skipping while driving and injectors seem to be noisy.
a&e no issues.
replaced IDM today with a known good one and still same skip.
buzz test normal, koeo test pass, koer test shows past .
yes try cc test, could be loose poppet screw or worn poppet valve and mechanical problem injector does not show up in buzz test unless you can just hear that injector buzz at different tone
I don’t think I can get the truck hot enough. I would also believe a worn injector would show up slowly. This issue appeard all the sudden with a no start at first . And something took out the first idm, because it is definitely not running with the idm that left me stranded ..
would a bad PCM or a bad uvch show up on a&e ?
the only thing I am getting as an error is the exhaust pressure sensor .. I cleaned the pipe out, but think the sensor might be faulty .. says out of range ..
when unplugging that sensor , still no
issue with the skipping.
a injector solenoid could take out idm. It is also possible to have a bad injector solenoid to shut down entire bank of injectors. Also take off oil fill cap and smell for burnt wires. Could have fried UVC harness
Can you describe skipping? Maybe going down the road then you seem to loose all power (quiet) for a split second then the truck jumps forward? If so that usually is the CPS, it does not usually throw a code. On the 97 when I started to have UVCH issues it was pretty apparent, no power to one bank, and scanner did show codes.
when I drive , it is not a complete shutt down type skipping . Just some of the cylinders the way it feels . The sound when accelerating almost sounds like spark knocking in a gas . It’s more noticeable under load , then just rolling .
