Hello i am new to the forum. I am looking for advice on front brake pads i have a 1994.5 F350 crew cab 4wd
Dually 7.3 powerstroke. I drive it daily and tow 5000+ at least once a week. The problem is truck does not stop well
empty or loaded. Partial due to the rear drum brakes.. I have narrowed it down to 2 pad sets. Wagner extreme sx450 or motorcraft brsf450 super duty pads. any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance joe
You sure your braking system is good, i have never had a problem stopping my truck pulling my 5er or my old TT loaded both hit 9k+lbs, also you might consider installing elctric brakes to your trailer.
It doesn't stop well. Looking for better front pads . I have trailer brakes. On my daily drive to work with no trailer and no load it should stop on a dime like my 2002 excursion does . I have replaced ever part in the system. short of converting it to hydro boost , i would like to try a more aggressive pad . Just looking for advice thank you joe
Your vacuum pump could be failing. Mine went out on me pulling a 16k load. Fortunately I was going slow and had room in front of me. Thought I was going to push the brake peddle through the floor before she finally stopped. What a helpless feeling.
I have Porterfield pads and shoes on the dually. No noise snd low dusting. R4S is the pad material. Maybe 1000 miles so I doubt the rears have even broken in yet. But past experience with them on vintage BMWs was positive.
If you have not pulled the drums, do it. Do not be surprised if there is a mess in there. I had two primary shoes on one side and two secondary on another. Both auto adjusters tossed in there hooked to nothing. One drum was also gouged to **** so I had to replace both to start fully fresh.
New fluid is a given. I try for every few years.
If you can find SS flex lines, let me know. I heard Crown has them for a dually. Until I track that down, I just went with new rubber flex lines.
Good luck and I would love to see a picture of the 4x4 dually!!
