Are you saying the starter stays engaged while running and this burns out the solenoid?

Yes the starter stays engaged even when you turn the key off. I have replaced solenoid three times. Works for a little while then shorts out solenoid and starter stay engaged
We have cut open 10's of aftermarket solenoids (AutoBlown, O'Rickidy's, Advanceless Auto, etc) and almost all had flaky (ie. "plunger") internals -spend the extra money and get a quality one from Motorcraft or even Napa.
