I'm pretty sure Ford wants no more than 20% idle hours, preferably 16%. That would only apply to the diesel. There was talk at one point of warranty stipulation on the diesels requiring the engine be less than a certain number of hours / idle hours.
BUT...I know lots of 6.7L powered Fords that idle all day and besides plugging EGR coolers and having regen issues, the engines seem to be doing just fine.
With mine at 28% idle time, I would say its normal...not extended idling by any means. Remote start almost every morning since purchase (15 mins) and then remote start prior to leaving the office (5-10 mins). Normal idle throughout the day when making phone calls from a parking lot, etc...
At the rate I’m going I’ll be over 5000 by the time I get to 90,000 miles. My 2011 had just over 10,000 hours in 196,000 miles... Im sitting just over 1700 hours at 30,000 miles.
