I am working on my 67 F100 I am building a 360 for it unless I can find a good 390 crank. I have two transmissions to choose. One is the 3 speed column shift with overdrive, the other is a 4 speed with granny low out of a 72 f250 4x4. I want the one out of the 72 because I like the granny low sometimes. But I also like the overdrive. I wanted to build the 4x4 but the chassis on the 67 is complete and I have no front axle for the 4x4. The 72 cab is going to go on the 67 chassis because of rust. Can the dashes be swapped? I like the 67 better. Thanks Eric
The dashes can be swapped but it might be welded in, mine was.And your going to want all the goodies inside the dash also and wiring harness for the 67instrument cluster, each year differs just a little. On the tranny Question it's all personal prefrance both has pluses and minuses. In your application and gas prices I'd try out the overdrive unit and it could always be swapped out later.
If you're referring to the dash pad or the sheet metal for the pad, I believe they are all the same. If you mean instrument panel, the metal instrument panel for the 67 is held on by screws on the face. The plastic instrument panels like the 72 are held on by screws on the back. They can be swapped by using "j" or "u" nuts and some drilling. Easy swap. If I'm not mistaken a 360 and 390 use the same crank. It's the bore (piston) and stroke (rod) that make it the 390.
When I say dash I mean the whole metal part I like the push pul cables too. I dont remember if there are any other differances. Thanks I didn't know the tranny from the 4x4 wouln't have a place for the speedo cable. That kind of thing is nice to know before a swap. Thanks Eric
