I have a 67 F100 it has a 3spd column shift trans with overdrive on it. I am going to change the engine and was thinking about getting a toploader trans. Can the overdrive be taken off the 3spd and put on a 4spd toploader? Thanks Eric

I'm new here and was going through the old posts and saw tthat no one had replied to you.
The overdrive will not go on to the top loader. I wanted to do this and looked into modifying the top loaders output staff, building an adapter plate to go between the OD unit and the back of the transmission. Way too expensive to get a custom built output shaft for the top loader.
You can use a top loader 4 speed which has third as the 1:1 gear and fourth as an overdrive. Believe these are called TOD transmissions.
