Looking for thoughts. I have replaced the porportioning valve 2x on my 79 f150 in the past year and it has failed again . Leaking out under the rubber boot that covers the pin . Options seen to be limited..original units are hard to find and very $$$. Aftermarket brass pv2 units seem to be Chinese junk. I amthinking about re plumbing the brake lines and using a prop valve from a 1998 jeep cherokee .
At the same time possibly the mustang master cyl upgrade.
Before you give up on finding a Ford part, try these guys. I got a new old stock motorcraft prop valve from them and I thought they were very reasonable.

Also, find the exact Ford part number for the unit you need and do an online search for it. I agree that the imported ones (even from trusted vendors) are no good, and went through two of them myself for the same reasons you stated.
Well I have another pv2 on the way (warranty replacement). I took the pin out of mine and shimmed the nylon washer with a copper one and that has stopped the leak for now. I'm still seriously thinking about using the jeep one.... just out of curiosity.. and if it works they are still available
