Lighted running board question

I added lights under my running boards that are currently wired to a switch panel I added in the bed that control several lights I added. I have the factory wiring to tie those lights into so they go on when I open the doors and the aftermarket plugs to use. There is a factory plug on each side of the truck. My question is do I need to tie in to both factory plugs? If I only tie into the plug on the driver side, will the passengers door still activate the lights? Both running board lights are one one circuit. Thanks

Whenever the interior lights come on, both running board light sockets are energized.

They will come on regardless of which door is opened, if the dome lights are turned on via the dashboard switch, or when you unlock the vehicle with the remote keyfob.
