I’m sure this has been asked several times already, so I apologize in advance.
I have had a slight air leak due to pitting on the inside of a couple of my wheels at the valve stems. So I’m finally going to bite the bullet and get some new wheels.
I am thinking 18s, and I want to run the largest tires I can without rubbing. So can you guys help with wheel width, offset, and tire size?
Thanks for the reply. I saw that thread, but I am looking to purchase new non-OEM wheels. I see I can go with 18x8, but does anyone know the offset? Or should I just have the tire shop look up what 18s work for a 2004 SD? And what about max tire size for stock height? I don’t know why my search skills have deminished lately, because I know I remember reading different threads about it in years past. If someone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.
If buying aftermarket, you will need a -2 offset for stock rims (if I'm remembering my purchase correctly). The newer SD rims have a -4 offset, which is why you need spacers. Go online to discount tire, and type in your vehicle information while searching their wheel inventory. It will give you the correct offset...which should be -2 if my memory serves me right.
I think that number is the distance from dead center on the wheel rim.
