aftermarket wheel backspacing????

Howdy all, I'm looking to buy some of the black steel Cragar wheels that Summit sells to install some 33x12.50's. I'm looking at the 15x8, and already know that I need them with 5x5.5 wheel stud spacing, but am unsure of what backspacing they should have. I want to try to avoid rubbing if at all possible, but not necessarily need wheel well extenders to keep the police off of my back. Anyone have an idea on this?

I would get a backspacing of 3.5"-4". Anything more than that, and you may rub too much on the radius arms when turning all the way to one side.

As a frame of reference, the stock wheels have a 4.5" backspacing. Most aftermarket standard backspacing is 3.5" which pushes 33x12.50's out just fine for clearance purposes. Be careful mounting 12.50's on 8" wide wheels though. Most tire maunfacturers don't recommend anything narrower than 8.5" for 12.5" section width tires. You end up with undue stress on the beads and end up with greater blowout potential. BFGoodrich actually recommends an 8.5 - 10" rim for that tire size with the 10 be preferred.

I've ran 8" rims on 12.50 and that is what most people run on those for use on those kind of tires. They air down well for off roading. I have 9.75 wide rims on 16 swampers and thats what interco recommends so it varies with tire manufacturers....

You're right on that Greystreak, I was researching the 32x11.50's (they recommended a 8-10)a while back and forgot to double check their website for the larger tire. Summit stocks them in 4 inch back spacing, would this still fit the truck without rubbing the radius arms? I'm looking to get the BFG Mud Terrain T/A KM's. Perhaps I should go with a 15x10 wheel? Would this make the tire look too skinny though? Would they stil air down well?

Also, is the 2200 lb load rating on these rims high enough? They seem to be a higher rating than the American Racing, or the US Wheels 10 hole wheels. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...=cragar+wheels

I tend to agree that you should go for a 10" wide rim over the 8" one. This will give you a little better "footprint" with the 33x12.50's with less sidewall bulge. I have 35x12.50's on a 9" wide rim, but my 4wheelin' is primarily mud, so a thinner tire/wheel combo is prefered. The 4" backspacing is fine, but you may still have slight rub on the radius arms at full lock, even with the extended radius arms like mine. I just dont' turn too sharp! And as for the strength of the wheel, it's plenty good, since that is a steel unit. Good looking wheels, and a great price at $40!!!

One more quick question--I noticed in the description that these rims are not hub centric. Aren't the Bronco wheels hub centric? Is this something that I should worry about?

Also, does anyone else have these wheels? What did you use as a center cap for the front wheels around the hubs (like the stock beauty rings)?
