Hi, I’m from over in the dentside forum since that’s what I have but I’ve got a question for you guys. Every Saturday I drive my truck out through the country taking our garbage off and I see these 2 80s era f150s that have red white and blue paint schemes. I’ve never noticed them anywhere else and there’s 2 within a mile from each other. I was just wondering was that like a special edition ford did or just a paint scheme? Pretty cool either way.
Don't know about the 70's trucks, but in the 80's many of the regional Ford dealers had special edition trucks located in just their local areas. None of them really recognized by Ford, but Ford never slapped their hand over it either. They even had their own custom emblems, I remember seeing a Texas edition and a Oaklahoma emblem pictured here on some trucks. I also remember one was talked about that came from the middle of the country that had some different options, like 4.11 rearend gears and special paint and emblems.
What is sad is there is not much documentation on any of these trucks. I would not be surprised if a local Ford dealer around you didn't also have a special paint scheme he added to help sell these trucks. You might stop by your local Ford dealer and see if there is a old codger in there that remembers anything.
