Trailer Brake Controllers

I purchased a 2002 F350 SRW 7.3L and its never had a trailer brake controller installed. I absolutely hate the way all the after market ones install. Can you use a Ford OEM TPC on Ford trucks that weren't originally equipped with them? and if not, do that make one that will install in the dash and not on a bracket?

In 2002, there was no OEM TBC. The truck is pre-wired for one though. You just have to buy the pigtail.

pigtail should work, issue maybe the oem wants to integrated with the abs system.

Your 2002 is not capable of that, or at least I don't think so.

I would probably just get a prodigy or similar TBC.

Would be curious though If you did it, how it would work.

+1 on the Prodigy brake controller. My P3 was bulletproof.

I've seen them mounted in the dash pocket, whatever you want to call it. Keeps it out of the way. Some double sided table/velcro will hold it secure enough and a simple hole in the back of the pocket to allow the wires through.

I used to hang mine under the dash and it was definitely a calf knocker.

That is where I installed the P2. Fits nice and snug. And is completely out of the way while easily reachable when I need to yank on the brakes manually. Seems that it was also Ford's intention as the harness is just behind that pocket too.
