Hi everyone! Just wanted to start a thread about my new Ex. Some details; 2005 Black Excursion, Limited, PSD, 130k mi. Looking forward to making it mine over the coming months/years. I've already read a lot of great info about these rigs on the forum, so thanks for all that have contributed! I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions as I get further into the build. I'll try to take as many pics as possible along the way!
Wow nice looking Excursion. This is kinda cool, I just got mine 6 days ago and ours are very similar. Will be fun to follow what we each do and how they change.
Added a few parts recently.
Put on some LED Projector headlights. Really like the more modern look now.
Also added some LED Taillights as well as the new reverse lights, these things light up in reverse MUCH better than stock.
New Focal ICU 570's all around. IMO, hands down one of the best manufacturers of car audio.
Out with the old stock radio, in with the new Pioneer AVIC 8201NEX along with a backup camera.
Also tossed in the JL Audio StealthBox In-Console Subwoofer (this was NOT fun to install, I can tell you that. It is not plug-n-play as the description might have you think)
Also added a new Kicker KEX800 amp and installed it under 2nd row drivers side, but didn't get a picture of that.
I'd imagine it's pretty clear what I was focused on to start. I've always been a fan of clean sound and that's what I wanted to focus on first. Body and powertrain are pretty clean, so I wanted to get the sound up to par first. Headlights and Taillights were a nice modernization option. Cleans up the look of the front and rear. Having trouble finding a 3rd brake light that ACTUALLY fits the spot and wiring harness. Not sure if there are any options out there now, but based on a few forum searches I did, it didn't look like anything fit the Ex.
I think wheels and a decent lift (4"-6" range) will be next. I'm not much into trying to go the tuning route for this guy, maybe just for mileage but I'm not really looking into doing a ton of performance mods on the Ex (got an M3 for all that fun stuff!)
--Also right before I posted I went through the pics! I didn't forget about the fog lights, They're sitting in my family room now, just unboxed them. Stock look, just LED lights to complete the front end look.
Any suggestions on anything you guys have seen/done are always appreciated. Always looking for new fun things to do!
If your interested in selling your oem lights pm me a price and info on condition.
Hey, unfortunately the lights on the Ex when I bought it were not OEM, looked similar but had a smoked tint to them. Didn’t look right to me, that’s why I took them off.
not sure if im seeing things but the rubber weather seal on that left rear tail light looks un seated in the middle and will cause major water leaks into the LED unit an probably cause currosion down the road and electrical problems i might just be imagening it though feel free to correct me if im wrong on that visual

No sir you were NOT imagining things, went out and checked it first thing this morning. Must have gotten it caught behind the housing when I reseated it after I put the reverse lights in. Thanks for catching that, water down there would’ve been real bad!

Nice looking, similar to mine but yours is newer. Where did you get the headlights and tail lights? Been thinking of updating mine when I update the font end.
Looks like we got the trucks at almost the same time and I may have even had that truck up on a search or two! Hahaha.
I'm down in Miami. We just bought our third Ex but the first diesel version. I'm going to be doing some of the same work on the truck but I did decide to bite the bullet and do a good deal of preventive repairs to the engine first. I hope to have it back tomorrow. Let's see how that goes.
Anyway.... +1 on where you got those LED tail lights. I do like the look of those! On my headlights... I'm going to buff out mine well as they are in decent shape and will be replacing mine with a pair of Rigid SAE driving lights waiting on a bench for the truck to make it back.
