lifter noise?

ok, now i am getting pissed! it has sat at the shop for three days now and every morning they call to say "we still didn't hear anything" i have insisted that there is a noise and that i am not happy with the engine right now untill it's fixed, so i gave them three days now i am going to go pick it up today with nothing fixed. so when i go pick it up i am going to feel the engine to make sure it's cold and then have them go out there with me and i will start it. but i have this bad feeling that they might have added something to it to quiet it down. what ever they might have added can be changed out within a few oil changes right? i am getting more and more frustrated with this. any ideas?

thank god, they finaliy heard the noise yesterday morning, and again in the afternoon when i went to go pick it up. so they are going to talk to the engine builder about what they want to do. it's not over yet but at least i have some ground to fight on now.
