How does 5.4 valve train work
I cannot find much online about how the 1997-2003 5.4 valve train is designed or works. I know it is a single overhead cam, and there are 2 valves per cylinder, but does anyone out there have a good schematic or diagram of the valve system? Are there hydraulic valve lifters? I have a tapping noise on my 2002 5.4, that is not very loud, but enough to be noticeable. I used an engine stethoscope the other day to listen where it was coming from, and I heard it the most on the passenger side towards the back..last 2 cylinders basically. The front of the valve covers sounded fine, so I think the timing chain is good. and the spark plugs are new and I made sure I tightened them good. What could be the cause?

Did you torque the plugs to 28ft lbs.? That is what ford recommends now.
