I think I dug it up. Check out posts #8 and #12. If you find the parts, they require dealer activation. But this can be done from anywhere in the country over the airwaves. Many of us used Fairway Ford from Ohio or Banner Ford from Louisiana. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...
Check around through these threads, even though the search function leaves something to be desired. I seem to remember reading of guys here getting Remote Access to work on the '18's. Hopefully I don't have a faulty memory.
I have an 18 Ultimate built in April and I installed Remote Access. It works great.
You just have to find a dealer that has the Remote access module and the VSS module.
Weird. The link I posted that was working yesterday is now a Not Found page. Did the ruling council banish it?
I can't remember exactly but those part numbers sure look familiar. Pretty reasonably priced too, as many of them got jacked up as they became scarcer.
ya I looked up your post and "just stroking" posted these part numbers.....
The kit you saw on Ford Accessories is it. You can buy it a lot cheaper on eBay by buying the two parts, security module DL3Z-19A361-A and the remote access module DL3Z-19A390-B.
The remote access plugs into the security module. The security module includes a "jumper" cable that plugs into the current OBDII port and then you mount a "new" OBDII port in its place. It is a clean and neat installation with these kits.
Actually it is all plug and play. The only involvement from the dealer is to have them "activate" the remote access module and provide you with a PIN. Takes about 30 minutes max but suspect they will want to charge you for one hour labor.
If you were to buy a used/previously installed remote access module and the seller provide you with a transfer PIN, then no dealer involvement is required.
I just sold two modules and sent a new PIN to the buyer and he had no trouble activating them.

I don't doubt your word if you've had that experience. But the 2 times that I did a self install both activations were at no cost. One from Bobby at Banner Ford and the other from a super helpful guy who's name escapes me at Fairway Ford. But it may be that I got at least some of the parts from those dealers so they didn't charge me.
No no.....the first line of that response was me. I copy and pasted the rest off what 'just strokin' and yourself was talkin about in your post you sent me. Im just trying to get a confirmation if these are what I need so I can order them.

Wish I could be more helpful. I had those part numbers written down on a piece of paper on my desk for months. I guess I did away with it once mine was installed and working. But the numbers you listed sure look familiar, as I wrote them down enough times when I was gathering parts.

Don't do it if you didn't have remote start from the factory! I have a 2018 XLT that did not come with factory start. I bought the factory remote start and smartlink (which requires dealer activation). I installed the starter within minutes and activated via forscan. I had a dealer activate smartlink and they charged $50. (Most dealers do not know what it is or how to activate it. Nate at fairway provided good instructions.) Smartlink will only give you remote access to the features on your factory remote that came with the vehicle. In other words, if you have remote start from the factory, you are good. If you added the factory remote start after purchase, remote access will work, but only for lock/unlock and panic. I returned smartlink and the remote start replacing with the 12 volt solutions version (and remote access module). It allows remote start, lock / unlock, and panic via mobile. You lose the mileage, maint. log, etc., but the starting was what I wanted anyway.
I too was able to get the RMU and security system activated on my 2018 Lariat Ultimate. Has worked flawlessly for me, though as I remember the dealer side had to add a VIN from a 2017 model rather than a 2018 model to get it to accept in the system. Total cost was around 400 bucks due to how rare the hardware was in May of 2018

Smartlink and Remote Access are not the same thing. Remote Access is the older technology. A $49.99 per year (Canadian, they gave me a discount to $39.99 for US funds) gets you cell phone starting and lock/unlock.
My truck did not have factory remote start and the older RA modules work just fine with my 2017. Others have made it work on 2018's.
You can get basically the same thing with Viper SmartStart, but the yearly subscription is almost double. And if you want to trade or sell the truck, Remote Access modules are easily removed where the Viper is hard wired in.
check this link out.....I called fairway ford in ohio and waiting for a guy named kevin to call me back and confirm fitment. This is the older remote access not the smartlink....hopefully itl work.
What a PIA! Well Ford is having some very tough times right now... SMH! Kind of sad actually. LOL If GM gets the DEF tank relocated on the HD with the next design may just switch back. This stuff makes my head hurt when it should be so easy!
