1984 F150 Kickdown lever problem
It has been a while, but seems to me, I made some minor changes to make it happen.
Also check to see if you have the proper Kick Down bracket on the carb for your trans.
I have the Eddy carb on my truck(Since 1995)and have been well satisfied with the reliability and performance.
Hope this helps.

First, take the kickdown off and lay it aside, you can do without it for awhile.
Then take the throttle cable off till you have just the carb lever sitting there. Work the throttle and see if it sticks. Don't do it too much, each time you move it you are pumping fuel into the engine so do it just a few times so you will not flood the engine too bad. If it still sticks, you know you have a carb problem.
If it doesn't stick, then you know it must be something with the cable. Start the engine since it's starting to flood, and let it run a little bit. Then turn it off and work the throttle with the cable connected. If it sticks, take the cable off and work the pedal without the carb attached. Try to narrow down the problem, either the carb, the cable, or the marrying of the carb to the cable.
If you think you have it fixed, drive it awhile without the kickdown. You never know, the kickdown may be the whole problem.
ETA: In researching the use of an Edelbrock carb. on my 351W, I found that Edelbrock says you need Ford Throttle Lever Adapter #1483 for the kick-down and Throttle Cable Plate kit #1491 to re-position the throttle cable. If you check Edelbrock's website for pictures of these you should be able to determine if you have the needed pieces.
If the kick-down is hooked up, you should have #1483 (unless it was rigged up some way), but if #1491 is missing, that may be causing your problem.
