Check Engine light
#1
@DiggerE2
@DiggerE2 , Today 08:30 PM
I recently threw a P0671 code so i bought a new glow plug for the #1 and then discovered that the boot was cracked and allowing oil to get in, bench tested the glow plug and it tested ok ,but i went ahead and installed it and also replaced the harness on the passenger side. And cleared the code. Then i go out today and the check engine light is on again and so mow I'm starting to wonder if my scan gauge was the problem so i unplugged it and went down to my buddies place and he scans it and it initially showed the P0671 code and then he erased it cycled the ignition waited a few minutes and then rescanned it and no issues so i took off and made a stop and an hour or so later when i went to leave the check engine light is back on again. Anyone with any idea of what might be going on ? I'm going to go back tomorrow and clear it and try again. Merry Christmas All.
2005 F350 6.0 DRW Is The truck.
A problem in the GPCM can also cause this code.
Look for a you tube video by diesel tech Ron on glow plug testing. He points out the areas that can cause problems.
Now a bad module can take some time and if you have replaced
the harness and the plug then the chances are the module is
having an issue. But unless you have one on hand that is a known
good let me dig ou the pinpoint tests for the 2005. The other way
is if you have access to a VCM2 and IDS. There is a test that can
be run that will show.
Merry Christmas Everyone
