Dumb question, but I’m getting ready to rotate my tires for the first time myself. What size socket do I need for the lug nuts? I live about 25 min from the nearest hardware or automotive store and don’t want to have to make multiple trips into town.
Also, for those of you that have rotated your own tires, any tips or advice? Already have a torque wrench and breaker bar, so I’m good there.
Assuming the lugs are the same as 2005 to 2016 trucks, the socket is a 21 MM. You will also want a 4” long extension. Lastly, dont forget a wide standard screwdriver to pop off the center cap.

Doesnt that have the potential to scratch up the finish on the wheel?

I actually used the tire iron that came with the truck. It has a slight hook on the end for removing the center wheel cap. It is powder coated and I was very careful and did not affect the finish on the wheel at all.
WOW! you were able to use that thing?
The front ones came off fine, but I had to use spring pullers to get enough of a grip.
On the back wheels,
I first tried using a ratcheting strap with a 2x4 like someone else showed, but after some effort I resigned to the mower, so I backed up my mower to pull it off on both sides.

I use the tire iron to get my caps off, too. However, I slip the tire iron through the loop of a device I made and brace it against the tire's sidewall to pull the cap. 2" diameter ring welded to a piece of 1/8" x 1/2" flat bar. Saves me from trying to dig the OEM tire iron down between the cap and the 20" rims of my KR, and avoid any potential scratching or marring.
