So, I scored on a 02 CCLB 2wd Monday morning. Seems to handle/drive great, however, I WANT to go through it so I know it'll last awhile. First thing is the oil/fuel leak. The valley is saturated. Got the air intake, turbo and pedestal already out. The pedestal/block had OEM yellow orings, but tubo/pedestal had black. So, at one time, somebody replaced/rebuilt turbo... Bearings, compressor are smooth but would you guys still tear it down to overhaul it(clean any oil coke up)?
I'll post up the quest, but for now that's as far I got. Plan to drain all, hutch it, new waterpimp and tdtat worth billet housing(already ordered)..

Nice looking rig for sure. After just rebuilding my turbo and what I found after only 140k and having the truck since 24k. I know it hasn’t been beaten on and I would definitely recommend digging into the turbo for a rebuild just for peace of mind. If it’s already out that is the hard part other than getting it back in. Your definitely on right track with leaks. I would recommend replacing fuel lines and hpop lines on top as well if funds allow, again just for peace of mind.
Morning, y'all... So, yesterday was productive 👍.. With a little bit of running the wife around and getting daughter, managed to remove the turbo, pedestal, fuel bowl, fur lines and all surrounding components..(air assy, blah blah). Surprisingly, this turbo was replaced in its short 160k life. Had black orings between turbo/pedestal. Went ahead and tore turbo down and inside was not bad but not knowing, I went ahead and grabbed the "spare/rebuilt" turbo from shelf and threw on the R.R. ww1 wheel 👍. Dropped both, pedestal and exhaust outlet to bro, for gutting purposes and welding up. Today, hitn hydraulic place for fittings, hpop lines and fuel lines. Found on the hpop that the red loctite was blown out, so hoping that's my epicenter for oil(think, pedestal contributed also).... Anyway, not much to report but will post pics later
Ready for loctite, then hit hose co. for braided lines, once bowl is installed
Ready for 4x fuel felivery No spaghetti factory Cleaning ur up Be gone oil Purdy
Need to steal the k/n kit off other but she fired up. 4 turns of key about 7sec per turn to get it to fire. Only filled reservoir.
Running this until mid january Set'n up my own 4way fuel felivery
So, besides her voyage home, she hit the pavement yesterday. New ww1 when and fipk along with what's been done, I'm stoked! She(Betsy, the wife calls her..smh) ran like a champ. Still, has a delayed start(15sec cranking), thinking because rails were emptied, still needs air worked out. Best part is, NO EFF'n LEAKS....
plenum inserts(clay had box to me within 2 days)
gutted pedestal
ww1 wheel
gutted exhaust outlet
DIY CCV cannister
. Still to be done, install bypass coolant, trans and oil filters, hit McMaster Carr this morning for H/H material and last, clean out EBP sensor/tube along with new waterpump(Airtex). Then, take to bro's shop to install lift👍
Here's progress and parts waiting for install. Minus the VSM b.s. that I was hit with, its coming along
New WP and billet tstat CCV mod New fan, clutch, idler and tensioner Double din AND black vents..the grey looked horrible
Nah, there's no sign of soot on their now, but will get eventually. Will go after the cheapo dormans. Got then on the other truck and saw no difference in performance(originals weren't leaking)... Been cutting the l99 and calling parts into the new ride 😁
