Edge Console: What are safe temps?

Hi guys, I just installed an Edge console. I can monitor a great number of things now. I'm monitoring oil temperature, exhaust manifold temperature, transmission fluid temperature, air intake temperature, boost...and more.

What do you recommend to be the safe limits for these temperatures?

Oil: 210?
EGT: 1500?
ATF: 220?

I just a little search for Edge and got no hits. Here's the screen I like best.

So far today when tooling around town then climbing a long grade I see
200 for oil
900 for EGT
180 for ATF

I put the pyrometer probe in the exhaust manifold before the up pipe.

Still reading other threads...it looks like some other forum members see up to 250 for EOT and AFT.

Wow, glad I'm not there.

1200 degrees is the highest sustained EGT one dares go - 1250 degrees is the line of death. If you cross 1250 for over a few minutes, you get heat soak, and that is the melting point of some important stuff in the engine.

I would not want to run EOT over 210 degrees for a long length of time, but I slightly exceed that temp while climbing hills on hot days with the A/C on.

I hear 220 degrees TFT is OK for doing things like climbing a hill, but you don't really want to park the needle there all day. I saw 220 for a couple of minutes once. 160 degrees is the healthy minimum, and 180-190 is where mine parks while towing on the flat in the summer (heavy boat).

Max so far after a long 80mph freeway run:

Oil 180- 205
ATF only 170!
EGT around 650 but peaked at 1013 (top of 3rd gear, uphill, passing a Toyota Pry-us left lane bandit)
Intake temps hovering below 50, which is basically ideal.

Very happy with the Edge but wish it could monitor coolant temp too.

Here's an example showing how temps can change with load. In this case the change in load is a hill.

Whoa, peaked at 1200 on EGT. No damage?

No damage. Hitting 1200/1250 should be ok. Staying there is a different story. I always back off the throttle if I see 1250 or more on the gauge, but at 1200 or below I'd be willing to keep my foot in it longer as long as other gauges don't get too high.

Did you drill and tap the manifold before the up pipe?

We put the probe in exactly the same place. Great minds stink alike.
