So I got my new truck this week brand new 4d CC 6.7 in white. It is an XLT but has the XLT premium package so it has the 8in display but and the speakers sound OK but there is zero bass. Like garbage for bass. I listen to country so I'm not asking much. My buddy has the 2017 as well but the Lariat and he has the factory subwoofer which I don't. What do you think is involved with adding it? Is the harness already there you think? I haven't had a chance to look yet. It would be nice if I could just plug it in some how. Not going to go down the road of aftermarket Been down that road before. My dealer wasn't much help in sourcing the parts. Thought maybe someone here might have more information. On a side note what a step up from my 04'.
Looking at the link above it says that the kicker unit is for f150. Even when I put my truck in the website as a 250 of course it stills says me the for 150. Can it fit in both model trucks?
I just installed the Kicker Substage unit in my 16 F150 XLT. Cost around $475 and it sounds as good as my previous 15 F350 Platinum with the Sony unit.
The cab is the same on the 17 + Super Duties, so you would think it would work. My truck already had the OEM plug for it in the back of the cab. It's a very simple install with just one plug. You will need to get Ford to turn it on or use Forscan.
My OEM plug was behind the back door pillar on the drivers side. Just pull the weather seal back on your truck and you can look and see if your truck has the OEM plug or not. The plugs on the F150's were only in XLTs.
I dont think you will be able to to it without replacing a bunch if wire harnesses. The factory amp for the sub also powers the rears on the same channel and then the fronts have their own channels. The rears are more of a filler and do not receive the same wattage as the fronts.
The wiring is very involved and all speakers would need to be rewired. Your best bet is a simple aftermarket solution.
I know with the factory amp which you don't have, it made it more costly for those wanting to upgrade the sub because the system would not work bypassing the factory amp.
Oh man this is starting to get complicated. I am going to look tomorrow for the plug. If it's not there I think it might get left alone for now. I was hoping just to plug it in and go. I'm not about to start re wiring things on my truck with 400mi on it. I'll let you know what I find
While the box looks the same, the amp and harness look to be different. If I had to guess the ford one will probably work if you have the plug in place, while the one from the first link will work if you don't. The installation is just a lot more involved with running wires.
Cabs are the same, so it should bolt in just fine.

Good luck!
I have an XL. Just upgraded all speaker myself to kickers. Sounds better...still need my amp and a small sub. When you pull the weather seal it should be behind that next to seat belt? I did not pull seal or plastic off yet. I was able to feel around behind back wall carpet and behind plastic where seat belt is. I felt one wire and the belt mechanism. I have XL w sync 3 and rubber floors

Pull the weather strip sell out and look in between the plastic trim and the door pilar with a flashlight. I'm not sure XL's have the plug. My XLT has it. If you have it you will see it.
If you don't have the Sony sub, then you aren't going to have the plug to add it later. But that's a good thing because the stock don't sub and amp are trash. Complete garbage for the money and Sony should be ashamed putting their name on that.
Good news is, it's cheaper, easier, and sounds better when you want to add a powered sub to the XLT stereo. You just need to tap the rear left (or right) speaker for signal, run a power cable to your battery and a ground cable to the body and you can add 1x10, 2x10's, 12's, whatever you want.
The Sony amp and DSP are crap, be greatful you don't have to spend $500 on a DSP just to correct that train wreck.
