I have a 2016 F150 FX4 and the camera recently stopped working with only a blue screen showing with the small truck pic showing in the upper right corner for the back up sensors. This occurred just after a car wash on a cold day ( below freezing) .Any thoughts ?
Find where the tailgate harness plug is. It probably wasn't fully seated when it left the factory (this is not uncommon, for all wiring harnesses on a vehicle BTW). Pull it apart, spray some WD40 in both sides, smear a little dielectric grease on it then snap it back together, make sure it's fully seated.
It should be center, below the tailgate. If you can't find it, look in the owners manual, as the tailgate is designed to be easy to remove.
Don't smear the dielectric grease on the metal, parts of the terminals, just the rubber seal and the outer parts that clip together. Just a small amount on a Qtip should do.
took a look last night and it is in centre of tailgate bottom. I see several screws on the inside of the tailgate which if I remove should give me access to the camera and hopefully the harness plug without need to remove the tailgate? I doubt my manual would deal with that kind of detail.
the cable appears to go through the back of the truck above the bumper ....plug must be under the truck then as harness just passes through the tail gate and body holes .
